Agate:
Agate is modification of the quartz, because it has not got big
crystals, but only microscopical crystals. The chemical formula is
SiO2. The crystal system is trigonal and the hardness is 7. Agate is
unregular. He exists in many colors. Often we can find agate stones
which are hollow and inside we can find Amethyst crystals. Often an
agate consists of many color layers which are arranged radiale. Agate
contains onyx, sardonyx, eye agate, moss agate, dendrite agate, flame
agate, fire agate and many more. In Brazil and Uruguay we can find
most agate, but in other parts of the world there is also agate.
Because of this ring structure agate is good for ashtrays, like
petrified wood, because so we can see the whole stone. Agate is used
for chains and jewels. In former times in Egypt and also in other
parts of the world different things were made of agate. .
