Eternity Jewelry:
Eternity Rings Resources
Eternity Rings and Their Symbolism
How do you measure eternity? Well, if you believe in forever, then eternity is an endless celebration of
love. And if you are among the lucky few who have finally found your endless
love, then she deserves nothing less than the very best eternity rings on the
market today.
The demand for eternity rings
came as a result of the discovery in the 1950's of mines in the Soviet Union
which produced a surplus of small diamonds. Diamond firm DeBeers created a
demand for the small diamonds by convincing Americans (and later on the whole
world) that the rings were important and a symbol of endless love.
Eternity
rings are bands decorated with a
continuous line of gemstones as a symbol of eternal love. However, all those
stones around the ringscan be very
uncomfortable and therefore impractical to wear, so it has become acceptable to
give a half-eternity ring but purportedly for eternity. Practicality has thus
given rise to the popularity of half-eternity rings which are not only more
comfortable to wear but also a lot easier to make. They are also less expensive.
While eternity ringsmade use of surplus small diamonds,
the modern eternity ring now makes use of a variety of gemstones. So, which of
these rings suit your fancy?
Diamond eternity
rings
Diamonds were the original
stones that made a lot of women’s hearts flutter when given not only as
engagement rings but also as eternity rings. The half circle of diamonds lining
up the band will not only remind your wives that while they have married you for
richer or for poorer, your bank account status has somehow improved during the
marriage. Nothing could be more romantic than giving diamond eternity rings
after 20 years or marriage or more. If you opt for diamonds though, it would be
ideal to go for the half eternity ring for comfort purposes and for resizing
purposes later on.
White gold eternity
rings
You can give these rings on
just about any occasion although they are traditionally given after marriage, to
celebrate the renewal of vows, after the birth of a child or during any
milestone in the marriage. By choosing white gold eternity rings, you give
yourself a wide array of choices when it comes to the design of the ring. Bands
made of white gold are ideal for a variety of stones. The white finish, which is
made possible by mixing yellow gold with other metals like silver or platinum
and then plating them with rhodium, make a great backdrop for diamonds or
colored stones.
Moissanite eternity
rings
If you want to surprise your
wife with a diamond ring but cannot afford a high-priced one, then choose a
Moissanite eternity ring. This ring is not only affordable, but it looks like
the real thing. Even jewelers mistook Moissanites for diamonds when they first
entered the market in 1998. Rings made of Moissanites are as brilliant and
durable as diamonds rings. Hower, the earth’s supply of original Moissanites are
limited because they are created from meteorites. Don’t fret though; there are
lots of synthetic Moissanites manufactured in laboratories. So, instead of
buying fake diamonds, why not buy a Moissanite rings?
Ruby eternity
rings
If you want to flaunt your
love then nothing beats the red eternity ring. The color of the ring is enough
to ignite passion and intensity, two characteristics anyone would want to have
in a relationship. A ring made of ruby is the perfect gift for couples who are
celebrating their 15th or even their 40th wedding
anniversary, but many people choose to give the gift of a ruby eternity ring on
any occasion.
Emerald eternity
rings
Emeralds have become
covetedeternity rings not only
because of their attractive green color, but also because of their healing
powers. This gem is a fitting gift if your wife was born in the month of May.
Emeralds become quite popular among Victorian royalty, and if you manage to get
your hands on an authentic piece of jewelry dating back to the Victorian era,
then chances are that you are in possession of a ring once owned by royalty.
Choose emeralds with a bright and clear color.
You have a lot of choices
when it comes to eternity rings,as
they are available in a variety of bands and gemstones. Just make sure that you
do not actually wait an eternity before you give your wife a ring and show her
that you love her. Give her a gift that proves your desire to keep her in your
company for life.
Eternity rings are very popular choices for wedding
bands or anniversary
rings. Their timeless beauty will
never go out of style. When you are selecting an eternity ring for the one you
love, there are a few things you should consider. First, what kind of precious
metal should you select? It may be obvious if you are matching an existing
engagement
ring. If not, then you may need
to educate yourself on the different types of metals available, their
properties, and the pros and cons of each.
An
eternity ring is something that signifies a strong bond - may it be for
friendship or an intimate relationship. It is some sort of a ritual that has
been present roughly four thousand years ago. Ancient Egyptians are the
forerunners of this tradition. Just as we see it, a ring is made of a piece of
metal and then connected end to end to make a circle. This symbolizes a
continuous and unbreakable pact. Some people embed stones and jewels to decorate
the eternity
ring.
Eternity rings have been considered symbols of love and friendship
since early ages and have been a popular phenomenon especially in the west.
Rings are available in several materials. Rings are made out of
gold, silver, bronze and even
precious stones like diamonds, rubies etc. Ivory rings are also
available.
Eternity rings are different from other rings in the sense that one
who gives and one who receives must have an understanding towards each other,
whether by friendship or love. It is not a typical ring that can be taken for
granted by either party. Just like any regular ring, eternity rings can be made
of bronze, silver or gold. Some even use ivory as main material of the ring.
Precious stones such as ruby,
sapphire and diamond can be
incorporated into the ring to enhance its beauty.
Diamond eternity rings are so beautiful and have such
sparkle and
fire that everyone admires them.
While they originally were referred to as anniversary
rings, these
circles of
diamonds are the ideal gift to
commemorate any special event in a loved one's life. Because the price of them
is now much more within reach of the average jewelry buyer, they are more
affordable than ever.
When
we talk of eternity rings, we are mostly referring to the rings that are
exchanged by people who are close and that want a sign to signify their
friendship. These are rings that have sentimental value to the two people that
are exchanging them. This is not new. Rings have been part of human interaction
for as long as we can remember. They can be made of anything from fine gold, to
diamond, to steel and also other precious
stones.
The
history of the eternity ring goes back almost four thousand years. Ancient
Egyptians are thought to be the first to make and wear eternity
rings. Eternity rings are
essentially a continuous circle of metal studded with stones either halfway or
all the way around. Early eternity rings were meant to symbolize eternal life
and love. The unending, unbroken
circle of precious metal
represents a never-ending circle of
trust, or the circle of life.
Eternity rings today symbolize an everlasting relationship of love and are
commonly used for wedding or anniversary
bands.
Diamond wedding band sets are available for both halves of the
partnership or just for the woman if the man prefers to remain traditional. Many
men feel self-conscious of wearing diamond rings, even though so many are now
turning to them. Shopping for diamond wedding
rings is much more enjoyable when
both halves of the engaged couple are seeking a beautiful diamond, or a number
of smaller brilliant diamonds set in a gorgeous 14 carat gold eternity
setting.

Famous Diamond Mines
Diamonds are made up entirely of carbon. Pressure (diamonds can’t form above 100 miles below the earths crust) and temperature (750+ degrees F) are the factors that “change” the diamond from mere carbon into a treasured commodity. After millions of years undergoing this pressure and heat, the rough stones are settled in diamond-bearing rock and from there, wait for a volcanic eruption to bring them to the surface.Diamond Mining Techniques
The Millennium Star is internally and externally flawless pear-shaped diamond (total of 54 facets). With the weight of 203.04 carats it is the 10th largest diamond in the world. Originally, the rough stone was 777 carats found in the Mbuji-Mayi district of Zaire (Democratic Republic of the Congo) in 1990. After 5 months of studying and planning the cutting of the stone, it was decided to cut the rough diamond into three pieces. The Millennium Star is the
outcome of the largest piece. The value of the stone hasn't been revealed but the Millennium Star was insured for 100 million English pounds, this is believed to be a fraction of its true worth. 9. The Red Cross Weight:
205.07 carats
The Red Cross is canary yellow cushion-shaped diamond with weight of 205.07 carats. The rough stone weighed 375 carats and was found in Kimberly mines (South Africa) in 1901. The diamond was presented as a gift to the art sale held in London by Christies in 1918, on behalf of the British Red Cross Society and the Order of St. John. Another rare feature is that a Maltese Cross is distinctly visible in the top facet, hence the double
appropriateness of its name, the Red Cross Diamond.

Weighing 234.65 carats, the De Beers is the 8th largest faceted diamond in the world. After its display in Paris the Maharaja of Patiala bought the De Beers. In 1928 Cartier of Paris set it as the centerpiece of a ceremonial necklace that came to be known as the Patiala Necklace.
The necklace originally contained about 2,930 diamonds weighing about 962.25 carats. Today's whereabouts of the De Beers diamond and the Patiala Nacklace is unknown.
7.
The Jubilee Weight: 245.35 carats
The Jubilee is a colorless cushion-shaped diamond with a weight of 245.35 carats. The original rough stone, an irregular octahedron without definite faces or shape weighed 650.80 carats and was found in the Jagersfontein Mine towards the end of 1895. When during the cutting it became evident that a superb diamond of exceptional purity and size was being produced, it was planned to present it to Queen Victoria. In the end this did
not happen and the diamond remained with its owners. The following year marked the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria (the 75th anniversary of her coronation) so the gem was renamed the Jubilee to commemorate the occasion.
6. The Centenary Weight: 273.85 carats
The Centenary was found in Premier mine in 1986, in its rough form it weighed 599 carats. When cutting was completed the Centenary weighed 273.85 carats, measured 39.90 × 50.50 × 24.55 mm, and had 247 facets - 164 on the stone and 83 around its girdle. million in 1991.
