Gold coin of Constantine X. Fifty-three and in poor health at his
accession, Constantine seemed to have been chosen for his ability to
get along with everyone rather than any noticeable talents. The chief
reigns of power were held by the new emperor's wife, Eudocia, who
held a very public power role and was referred to as 'The Great
Empress of the Romans'. Constantine is depicted in regal apparel. On
the obverse, Christ enthroned. Excellent condition.
